Neil Waltzer
Mr. Waltzer's versatile career as a pianist, composer, and educator stretches from New York to Hollywood. He holds a Bachelor of Music and two Masters of Music in Theory and Composition from the Manhattan School of Music.
His television and film composing credits include NBC Premiere Movies, CBS television series, ABC Movies of the Week, ABC Monday Night Football and HBO and Showtime movies. Active in commercials as well, his compositions have garnered Clio and Big Apple Awards for Toshiba "Stereo in the Streets", "New Jersey and You:Perfect Together", and 3M "Ivory Tower, to name a few.
Appearing in concert as pianist for such artists as Shirley Bassey and Ray Stevens, Mr. Waltzer is also an arranger and conductor. As a keyboardist he has appeared on Broadway in such shows as "Playing Our Song", and "Cabin in the Sky". As a soloist and with the Neil Waltzer Jazz Ensemble he has appeared throughout the New York metropolitan area in venues such as Carnegie Hall, the Grand Ballroom of the Waldorf Astoria, The Colony Club, The Village Gate, and Top of the Tower.
As an educator, he has been on the faculty of the The Manhattan School of Music, where he founded the Jazz Program in the Prep Division, The Julliard School Prep Division Musical Theater Workshop, The Mannes College of Music, Queensborough Community College, Mercy College, Manhattanville College, and Five Towns College. His teaching at these institutions encompassed courses in music Theory and Analysis, Composition, Applied Piano, Jazz, and Music History.
Mr. Waltzer's students include: Kenny Kirkland (Jazz Downbeat #1 Pianist), Bruce Barth, Lee Curreri (star of the FAME movie and TV series), and Stacy Weidelitz (composer of "She's Like the Wind" from the movie "Dirty Dancing".
