Oceanna Music
Oceanna Music Publications, at oceannamusic.com, was founded early in 2003, with a Canadian government grant, to service the needs of music educators. The site provides a number of services including:
-
performance permissions
-
transcription, transposition, and arranging
-
contracting featured composers for clinics and workshops,
-
and more.
The organization publishes new and inspiring band, choral, instrumental, and piano works by contemporary female composers. The organization's intent is to bring such works to all school levels, conservatories, and private studios.
The site is very visually appealing and includes a music store where the company's recordings are offered - at very reasonable prices. Sound samples are available. I especially liked a piece called "Brand New Sneakers" - go on over and listen to a few!
There is a list of featured composers with background information on each, a small CD library collection, all of which can purchased, and access to past and future issues of the newsletter of the ACWC (Association of Canadian Women Composers).
All in all, a very useful site for music educators, and those looking for new material at all age levels. Take a look at www.oceannamusic.com.
